PBDH Launches Port of Seattle Web Site

January 26, 2004

SEATTLE, WA — Phinney/Bischoff Design House (PBDH), a leading Northwest brand design and interactive firm, has developed a new Web site for The Port of Seattle. The site is part of a brand development program initiated to tell the Port’s story in a unique and compelling way.

The new site (www.portseattle.org) was developed using the PBDH’s experience design process, building blocks, which include assessments of customer need, brand image perceptions, technology platforms and site utilization. The process permits streamlined, intuitive navigation tools and updated, relevant content making the site a great resource for travelers, commercial customers and the community.

“The Port of Seattle has become an engine of regional commerce”, said Karl Bischoff, PBDH’s VP of Interactive. “This new Web site clearly communicates the breadth and depth of their involvement in assuring the quality of life here in the Northwest.”

PBDH developed the site using a set of performance objectives, established by developing user profiles and business goals. “The brand image scoring and site testing we did goes beyond providing the Port with a site that simply looks better,” said Bischoff. “This development discipline offers proof that the Port is a more effective communicator, and accessible to businesses and the community.”

The Port of Seattle is a municipal corporation operating in an international, market-driven environment. The Port of Seattle’s vision is to be the most effective and respected provider of transportation facilities and services to promote international trade and commerce, and to be a catalyst for sustained regional prosperity.
