Google's Background Images are a Logical Step
In spite of Apple recently overtaking Microsoft as the highest capitalized high-tech company, Microsoft has long been the target of up-and-coming software companies. Microsoft was able to leverage its monopoly on desktop operating systems into dominance in other spaces, including browsers.
Another key to Microsoft's success has been its Office suite of products, which gives the Redmond giant another cash cow--one that extends even into the Apple world.
Google's current revenues come from AdWords, its paid search placement, but its future has been staked on its ability to undermine Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. It won't do this by creating a better desktop OS or a better suite of software applications... it will do it by changing the game and taking it to the cloud.
This is not news. Everyone has seen this coming for a while. The Chrome OS is expected later this year: an open-source OS that is built to run Web-based applications. Like Google Docs or Google Reader. Or Google Whatever.
The browser becomes the new desktop. The desktop becomes the new command line.
Google's decision earlier this week to push background images to Google.com was, at first glance, a follower decision: Bing, after all, has featured gorgeous photography that has stood in stark contrast to Google's, well, stark white search page. Google's decision to allow (and, at least for a couple of hours require) a background image may be perceived as a nod to Bing. Or a concession that the old, simple, Google design aesthetic was no longer relevant.
A more enlightened opinion (although perhaps I only consider it more enlightened because I have it) is that Google is just preparing users to think of Google.com, and, by extension, their whole browser, as the new desktop.
Once they get people using pictures of their dogs or kids or favorite celebrity as their Google.com background image, getting people to use Web-based apps instead of ones from their local machines won't be far behind.

You want your style change to apply only to the Remove button. So you'll do just a you've been doing: add a secondary style to the Remove button element.
