Zoo Mania at PBDH

The excitement and energy has been hard to contain in the house after winning the Woodland Park Zoo account! Last month, I got to join the design team on the account (Dean Hart, Cody Rasmussen and Dave Cole) and our client, Lori Veres, for a behind-the-scenes tour of Woodland Park Zoo. The very knowledgeable and friendly staff guided us through the HUGE zoo (I had no idea how big it was) as we got to visit and learn more about the many wonderful animals on exhibit.

Although all of the animals were amazing to watch and observe, my favorite part of the tour had to be the front-row view of the magnificent elephants taking their shower and being gently cleaned by the staff.

We had to make sure to stand behind the green line because that's how far the elephants are able to reach with their trunks!

It was definitely a wonderful experience to see firsthand what the Woodland Park Zoo is about and what they have to offer. It's a tremendous opportunity for PBDH to be able to partner with an organization whose mission it is to save animals and their habitats, and to educate and inspire people to care and take action. I know the team on the account will do a fabulous job!

Here is a sneak peak from just yesterday as the team critiqued various projects posted on the walls of this area we call the core.

Additional team members responsible for the account, from left to right: Dean Hart, Nathan Oliver, Devin Liddell, Leslie Phinney, Dave Cole, Karl Bischoff

I've definitely developed a greater appreciation for what's right behind our backyard as a community resource here in Seattle and can't wait to go back.

When was the last time you visited the zoo?

The Elephants seems to be very huge. The cleaner might have been afraid while cleaning them. It is nice experience to be able to see what's happening behind the scenes. The Zoo surely looks very big and the maintainence must be a challenge to the people.

The Elephants are really great and a tour of the backstage of a Zoo sounds pretty interesting. Also one must be careful with the Elephants as they can get very dangerous. The Elephants that were taking Shower looks precious and tricky too for the person incharge.

One more thing: they reviewed other zoo logos and thought that this one was unique?Looks like most of them are reversed out versions of one of several animals: lion, tiger, giraffe or monkey.

Saving animals and habitat through conservation leadership and engaging experiences, inspiring people to learn, care and act. Woodland Park Zoo is doing a great job, great going. broyhill furniture

After having been to about 7 zoos, including the Smithsonian's (which is a disappointment!) this has to be my favorite. It's beautiful, doesn't smell, and has wonderful trails to go to in order to see the animals. Plus, free maps! So people can actually find the animals! The staff was very helpful.

They have a really good care on each of the animals in there. They are not working just for money but only for the health of animals.

It's true that they treat the animal good, but I do not really like to see animals locked in cages. Is sad.
