PBDH Develops New Name and Logo for Compass Housing Alliance

December 12, 2009

SEATTLE, WA – December 2009 – Loveall Price and Associates, LLC selected Phinney Bischoff Design House as the brand design firm to help with the brand strategy, name and logo development of the merger between The Compass Center and LATCH (The Lutheran Alliance To Create Housing).

The Compass Center provides transitional and emergency services to those in need in the Puget Sound region. They have been around for over 125 years, making them one of the oldest non-profit organizations in the area. LATCH focuses on finding long-term permanent and sustainable housing options for the homeless population in Washington State and are advocates for public policies. Rooted in their Lutheran faith, they joined their resources to better serve the homeless population.

Through the BrandBuilder™ process, PBDH helped both organizations come together and discover their unique strategic positioning, which then informed the name and logo development. Under the name Compass Housing Alliance with the Compass name carried over for its equity –this new organization of combined resources, experience and fresh ideas is committed to offering an innovative response to the homeless and those vulnerable to homelessness in Washington state.

The Compass Housing Alliance logo embodies several symbols, including the cross, a compass, and physical structure — all of which bring hope, direction, and stability to men, women, and families.

PBDH was selected because of their transparent and collaborative approach, and commitment to helping non-profit organizations achieve their goals.
