A former professional cook, Darren treats the kitchen as a battlefield and lays siege to it every chance he gets. When he's not facing off with a smoked pork shoulder, he's probably regrouping with a good book or attempting to forge the perfect sentence out of pure will. Every summer he gets the idea he needs to climb up the tallest, steepest, most intimidating mountain he can find. This typically results in a limp which lasts for at least a week upon returning, a minimum of twenty mosquito bites per appendage, and the certain conviction there's no way he's ever backpacking again.
